“There was the typical marquee.
There was the typical flag attached to the typical flagpole.
There was the typical gaggle of kids.
The typical hedges.
The typical trees.
The typical school entrance blocked by somebody’s typical car.
Wait. That couldn’t be right. Miles looked again.
He approached the crowd of kids. Miles heard snickers. He heard snorts. He even head some guffaws.
‘There’s a CAR on the STEPS,’ one kids said, stating the obvious.
… Miles smiled for the first time since leaving his old town. That was a pretty good prank.
Then he stopped smiling.
It was a very good prank.
He frowned.
It appeared this school already had a prankster. A very good prankster.
… If Miles wasn’t the school prankster, he was nobody.” Miles Murphy pg. 13-14 – The Terrible Two by Mac Barnett & Jory John

Miles Murphy was unhappy, he’d left his old friends, his old school, his old bedroom and the ocean just a few blocks from his old apartment and moved with his mom to the middle of nowhere, Yawnee Valley. About the only thing in Yawnee Valley is cows, but Miles is hoping that he can continue to be the school prankster at his new school, until the first day when he realizes that Yawnee Valley Science and Letters Academy may already have a very good prankster. The day just keeps getting worse, his new principal, Principal Barkin, decides Miles must have been the one to put the car in front of the entrance. He then pairs Miles up with Niles Sparks “The kiss up. The do-gooder. The school snitch.” pg. 33, and later, at lunch, the school bully, who also happens to be Principal Barkin’s son, threatens to beat him up, not once, but probably twice. What can Miles do to turn things around –a prank, a great prank! So he gets out his pranking notebook and starts planning, planning his greatest prank ever!
