JANUARY 2016: The Seventh Most Important Thing by Shelley Pearsall - A great read for middle school students about friendship, hope and redemption.

“In other words, there could be a lot of reasons why people decided to save some things and why they threw others away – reasons that might not make any sense until you dug much deeper.”  Arthur pg. 92 – The Seventh Most Important Thing by Shelley Pearsall

FEBRUARY 2016: The Terrible Two by Mac Barnett and Jory John - A fun read for Diary of a Wimpy Kid fans!

“There was the typical marquee.
There was the typical flag attached to the typical flagpole.
There was the typical gaggle of kids.
The typical hedges.
The typical trees.
The typical school entrance blocked by somebody’s typical car.
Wait.  That couldn’t be right.  Miles looked again.
He approached the crowd of kids.  Miles heard snickers.  He heard snorts.  He even head some guffaws.

March 2016 - Isabel Feeney, Star Reporter by Beth Fantaskey - A spunky read for older elementary and middle school girls!

“ … I was starting to understand the reporter side of the newspaper business.  I also – finally – got that my being mad wouldn’t change the way Maude wrote about Miss Giddings.
No – if I was going to get Maude to tell a different story, I’d have to make her believe a different story.

August 2016: Save Me a Seat by Sarah Weeks & Gita Varadarajan

“I could have told Ravi not to sit at that table.  And I could have told him that it was only a matter of time before Dillon would come up with a mean nickname for him too.  Ravi thinks I’m dumb, and I’m pretty sure he thinks I was the one who tripped him, but I can’t help it: I feel sorry for him.  It’s not easy being a zebra.  In fact, it sucks.” Joe pg. 130 – 131 Save Me a Seat by Sarah Weeks & Gita Varadarajan
