Trained therapy dogs make an ideal audience for beginning, struggling, and reluctant readers. The dogs are non-judgmental listeners, which allow kids to practice in a no pressure situation, that can also help to build a positive attitude toward reading. This program for all ages will highlight several different raptor species, the natural history of birds of prey, the unique and vital roles they play in our ecosystems, and the increasing importance of preserving the habitats needed to sustain viable populations. The Spectral Hunters Investigation Team will share with us how they prepare for their investigations, what type of gear they use, and show us some of their evidence during the 2:00 p.m. session. Lake Ave and 3rd St. NW at Lake Anna for a live investigation with the Spectral Hunters Investigation Team as they use their techniques to examine the steps at the 7:00 p.m. event. Mus i c & Movement Mondays, October 10 - November 14 10:30 a.m. Children’s Activity Room Ages birth - 5 Join us for this energizing program that helps get kids up and moving, while also helping them develop motor and listening skills. Owl apa looza Wednesday, October 5 4:30 p.m. Spillette Meeting Room Ages 5 - 12 Discover the nocturnal world of owls with art projects, games, stories, and the opportunity to dissect owl pellets. Join us afterward from 6:15 - 7:15 p.m. for a live bird show, presented by the Medina Raptor Center. Go t Game? Tuesday, November 1 4:30 p.m. Spillette Meeting Room Grades 3 - 12 Got Game!, is a quarterly program that provides kids & teens, in grades 3 - 12, with a fun and relaxed environment in which to interact and build positive relationships with Barberton police officers. The Library provides a variety of games and refreshments, while allowing kids and officers time to relax and challenge each other to a game of Giant Connect-4, start up a big game of UNO, or sit down to a game of checkers. A variety of other games are available to play, and kids & teens are also able to select a book, that is theirs to keep.

Local History Bar ber t on Memor i es - The 1960s Wednesday, October 19 2:30 p.m. Spillette Meeting Room The 1960s were a pivotal time in our local and national history. The decade is often remembered for the strife that was seen all over the country, however, there were many positive events during the 1960s. The space race began with the moon landing and inspired many improvements in scientific and medical technologies. In Barberton, Route 224 opened and provided direct highway access for the local area, a new viaduct was built to replace the 1919 bridge, and the City celebrated its 75th anniversary with birthday cake, souvenirs, and exhibits.
