Don't Cut Ohio Libraries!

Tell the Ohio House: Don’t Cut My Library!
This is not our usual message to you, our valued patrons and Library lovers. However, Ohio libraries are facing an unprecedented challenge in the Ohio House of Representatives, and we need your help.

On April 1, the Ohio House introduced its version of the biennial budget, which funds all state operations for the next two years. This budget proposal eliminates the Public Library Fund, a mechanism that has funded 251 public library systems for four decades. Instead, the Ohio House Members plan to replace this fund with a budget line item which will be susceptible to additional reductions in future budgets.

This change will result in cuts to libraries across the state of Ohio, including your library.

What does this mean for patrons?
A reduction in the Public Library Fund threatens programs, services, materials, and more.

How can you help?
Please consider contacting your representatives today to tell them your library story. Tell your legislators: Don’t Cut My Library. They need to hear why public libraries matter to you. The Ohio House of Representatives will vote on the budget next Wednesday, April 9.
