Local History and Genealogy Resources



The Local History Room's primary objective is to provide
patrons with access to local history resources, as well as to preserve the history of Barberton.
The following links will provide access to trusted, reliable sources of history and genealogy information.

Research Databases

 Some of the databases may require a BPL card for access.  

Obituary Indexes

Indexes are available for the following newspapers: Barberton News, Barberton Leader, Barberton Herald, Barberton Post, and the Akron Beacon-Journal.

BHS Yearbooks and Indexes

The Local History Room has all Barberton High School yearbooks from 1945 to the present and select yearbooks from 1914 to 1932. Yearbooks can be reviewed in the Local History Room. They cannot be checked out.

The Local History Department has indexed and scanned copies of our 1914-1932 Barberton High School yearbooks.

Primary and Secondary Local History and Genealogy sources found in the Local History Room

These sources include print copies of census records, family histories, cemetery records, city directories, and maps. Please note: Local history and genealogy sources may not be available for check-out. Many of the items can only be used in the Local History Room.
